What is the 918 with Weissach package? ›

The Weissach package serves as a specialist option which was specified on a small percentage of the cars that left the factory. This lightweight package features Magnesium wheels, titanium chassis bolts and multiple pieces of exposed carbon fibre.

The Weissach Package adds the Leather/Race-Tex interior, full bucket seats, and the gold 20/21-inch GT3 RS Forged Lightweight Magnesium Wheels. To get the most expensive model possible, we went for the 3D-printed body for the full-bucket driver's seat, available in soft, medium, or hard. It adds $3,380 to the price.

Only 918 models were built, hence the denomination “918,” of which 297 were sent to the US. The 918 Spyder was much better reviewed than the Carrera GT as it is a supercar designed to assist every caliber of driver.

In 2022, at a Bring a Trailer auction, a similar 918—with the Weissach package and 1,000 miles on it—garnered $2.025 million. And only last month, at RM Sotheby's “The White Collection” sale in Houston, Tex., a 2015 Porsche 918 “Weissach” Spyder sold for $3.94 million.

Weissach is the think tank of Porsche. From the first sketch to the finished prototype, vehicles have been developed, tested and prepared for series production here since 1971, with direct channels between the individual specialist departments.

The 'Weissach' edition was a standard SC with special paint. It was built in 1980 to honor the Porsche Motorsport team working in Weissach Germany. 468 units were made and half were painted Metallic Black, the other half in Platinum Metallic. The interiors were wrapped in Doric Grey leather with burgundy piping.
