Ameren Missouri says Bagnell Dam is nearing its maximum power generation level as power demand has spiked over the last week.
Ameren says the dam’s eight generators can discharge between 40,000 and 50,000 cubic feet of water per second, and that will add around 215 megawatts to the power grid. Currently, the dam is passing between 34 thousand and 36 thousand cubic feet per second.
Ameren said customers should not expect any planned outages, which have occurred in many southern and midwest areas.
