Ameren adjusts discharge levels at Bagnell Dam, no flooding expected (2024)

Ameren Missouri is adjusting the discharge levels at Bagnell Dam to match the flow of water coming from the Truman Dam, which is currently in flooding conditions.

Osage County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) released a public safety alertearly Friday advising property owners downstream to take steps to mitigate flooding issues in low areas.

However, Ameren said there was no flooding around the Bagnell Dam.

"We're maintaining our lake levels and we're just passing along what Truman is feeding us with our discharge,"Brad Todd, a Bagnell Dam plant manager for Ameren, said."(Hydraulic engineers) constantly monitor weather conditions and we're going to keep our lake levels steady."

The discharge was adjusted to about 50,000 cubic feet per second, causing the river to rise about 4 feet, the Osage County OEM said. It will continue at this level until Sunday when Ameren will decrease the discharge, according to the Osage County Sheriff's Office.

The elevated discharge is expected to last five days but is subject to change, according to the OEM alert.
