Why is Elvie leaking? ›

There are a few different reasons that your pump might leak: It might not be assembled correctly. Your nipple alignment might not quite be right. There could be a damaged part.

Elvie Pump should not leak. There can be a few different reasons for leaking, from a broken part, to nipple alignment so please contact us so a member of our team can resolve the issue for you.

It's important that your nipple is placed centrally, and is not too squashed, as this may impact the milk flow. Please try the following: Place your nipple in the center of the Nipple Hole. Once your nipple is aligned, please check to see if it is in contact with the inside front or sides of the Pouch.

Elvie Curve should not leak when in use. If you are experiencing leaks, please see the guidance below: If milk is coming through the Valve, then the Valve is not properly shut. Make sure the Valve is clean and free from debris, and make sure the Valve is not 'tucked' into itself.

(Leaking is common in women who have an overabundant milk supply). Or you might leak when your letdown reflex – which releases the milk – kicks in. In the first weeks of breastfeeding, your letdown reflex is being conditioned to respond to the sensation of your baby nursing.

Any time moisture gets in the tubing it leaves your pumps motor at risk. This moisture can be sucked back into the pump causing damage. The best way to ensure the milk from your breast pump is clean and safe is to ensure all the parts are clean and sterile!

You don't need to wash your tubes unless you somehow got milk in them. If you do see milk, first rinse the tubing in cool water to remove the milk. Then wash them with warm soapy water. Finally rinse them again to remove all the soap and allow them to dry completely.

Elvie offers a two-year warranty on the pump, and a 90-day warranty on any of the washable parts. The expected lifespan of the Elvie washable parts (breast shield and bottle) is six months; a three-pack of replacement bottles runs $35 on Elvie's site and the breast shields cost $30 for a two-pack.

You should clean and sanitize your pump before you use it for the first time. After first use, you should: Clean it after every use.

Can I wear the Elvie all day? ›

We recommend removing your Elvie Catch every two to three hours, to allow the nipple to completely air-dry. Please note: Milk collected over extended periods and left at room temperature for too long should not be fed to your baby.

Have plenty of skin-to-skin contact before pumping. Increase the frequency of pumping sessions. Pump from both breasts at the same time (double pumping). Check the strength of your pump; to stimulate or increase milk supply, a hospital-grade breast pump is recommended.

As long as Elvie Stride is functioning properly you can use it in lots of different positions. Just be aware that you should not use your pump while: Lying down.

Check that your bra is full coverage and that the straps are tight enough to firmly hold the pumps against your breasts. Make sure you have the correct flange size for each nipple. Nipple size can change over time.

Lean forward and stay upright while pumping

With most wearable pumps – the Willow 3.0 is an exception – you need to stay upright when pumping to avoid leaks. Because of this, you can't bend over. Instead, you'll want to squat when you need to get something on the ground. Leaning back too far can also lead to leaks.

Replace Seals and Gaskets 🛠️

If you notice leaks around the pump housing, it's likely due to worn-out seals or gaskets. Turn off the sump pump and follow the manufacturer's instructions to replace these components.
