Y. Season Leopold Stokowski will open the 1944-45 concert season at New York City Center on Monday evening, Oct. 9. conducting the New York City Symphony in the first of a series of six pairs of Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon programs. Mr.

Stokowski has plans for a considerably enlarged program this season which will include modern opera, ballet, chamber music recitals and student concerts. In announcing the project of presenting modern operas, Mr. Stokowski said that his plan to produce two hitherto unheard works, William Still's "Troubled Island," featuring an allNegro cast, and Darius Milhaud's "Bolivar" dealing with the South American liberator, will in no way interfere with the regular season of standard opera by the City Center Opera Company under the direction of Laszlo Halasz. The symphony season itself will be divided into two parts: The first part beginning with the concert Oct. 9 and ending with the concert on Dec.

19, and the second part starting early in 1945 and. running into spring. Because he is particularly interested in new unknown composers, Mr. Stokowski plans to introduce new works by several heretofore unknown American composers in whom he is particularly interested, as well as works of the better known modern composers. The League of Composers will commission one young American to compose A work particularly for Mr.

Stokowski to be performed by the New York City Symphony. Mr. Stokowski also plans a series of chamber-music concerts. A club for musicians will be formed but there will be "no officers, no rules, no dues," said the maestro. "It will be for the sole pleasure of playing." Developing informally at club meetings, the groups will give concerts later in the season.

Youth concerts for the student age group is an important feature of Mr. Stokowski's plans. He will call a meeting shortly to appoint committees from city schools to be in charge of everything but the actual playing of the concert itself. Jessica Rogers at Troc Jessica Rogers, headlines the burlesque show at the Troc the week beginning tonight at midnight. Also on the bill are Jack Diamond, "The Broadway Playboy;" "Shuffles" LeVan, comedian; Merrill Sevier, straightman, and Ethel DeVeaux.

Specialties will be offered by dancer Marilyn Roberts; Jimmy Pinto and Company, Italian-American funsters; Tommy Lane, singer of hit Carol King, and the popular Troc-Ettes in new Eddie Lynch routines.
