While we have made headway in past decades, there are still millions of people who have no idea what Carnival is. Say the word ‘carnival’ to non-diaspora people and they will likely think of clowns and the ‘Big Top’ or a cruise line before Soca and Jump Up. If she were opening businesses within the Carnival Arts and competing with her countrymen you could maybe argue that she takes dollars away, but that’s not what she is doing, she is a participant, endorser and influencer.
