The world of Project Zomboid is huge, and traversing the roads of Knox County on foot is slow, dangerous, and can even get a little boring. You will eventually run out of supplies and essential items in your starting town, and without a better mode of transportation, survival becomes more challenging.

While at the beginning of the game, you don't have the luxury of choice when it comes to vehicles and have to work with what you're lucky to find, once you gain the ability to hotwire cars and repair their various parts, you can go browsing for some nice rides.
10 Chevalier D6
Having a pickup truck can be useful both in real life and in a zombie apocalypse. Chevalier D6 might not be the best car in Project Zomboid, but with decent trunk capacity and a powerful engine, it can prove useful while moving bases or running over zombies.
This vehicle has one of the loudest engines in the game, so it might not be optimal for traveling unnoticed. But if you want to gather all the zombies in an area to dispatch them by a Molotov co*cktail or lure them away from your looting target, you can even pick one of the variants with a siren, and blast off.
9 Dash Bulldriver
Dash Bulldriver, especially the emergency variants, has one of the highest engine powers among heavy-duty cars in the game. With an even higher trunk storage than the Chevalier D6, you can carry a lot of items in these cars, while being able to easily tow heavier cars and go off-road.
However, with high engine power comes extra loud engines, so be careful when driving through unfamiliar neighborhoods. And as always, sirens can be very useful in certain situations if you are prepared to face the hordes of undead.
8 Dash Rancher
If you're looking for a car to go camping, hunting small game, or foraging in the woods, then the Dash Rancher might be the car for you. This is a small car, but with a powerful enough engine to handle off-road as well as most other heavy-duty cars.

Dash Rancher is not the best choice for moving bases or picking up your friends in a multiplayer server, but when it comes to style and uniqueness, it's a popular choice.
7 Chevalier Cossette
While most survivors look for a car that helps them overcome the apocalypse, some just have to satisfy their need for speed. If that sounds like you, then give Chevalier Cossette a spin. This sports car has the highest engine power and speed among all cars in Project Zomboid.
With this stylish ride, you can zoom around the roads of Kentucky in no time, but you have to give up on some other qualities such as trunk capacity and the number of seats. If you do choose this car as your trusted vehicle, watch out for abandoned cars on the road, as high-speed car crashes are the second leading cause of death in Project Zomboid.
6 Dash Elite - Chevalier Primani
If you still fancy yourself a sports car, and Chevalier Cossette's drawbacks are too limiting for your playstyle, then Dash Elite or Chevalier Primani can be a perfect compromise between speed and utility.
Both of these cars have similar qualities, with four seats, impressive trunk storage, and the second-highest engine power after the Chevalier Cossette. So you can easily hit top speed with all your friends in the multiplayer server, while they are panicking that you're going to get them killed going that fast.
5 Chevalier Nyala
While not as fancy looking as some of the other cars available in the game, Chevalier Nyala is one of the most common cars in the world's streets, and for good reasons. They have decent qualities across the board, making them a great choice for any survivor out there.
They have a high trunk storage, decent engine power, and low enough engine loudness that you won't alarm zombies in the whole town while driving. But if you want to do so, get the police or the park ranger variants and use the sirens to gather a crowd.
4 Franklin All-Terrain
As the name suggests, Franklin All-Terrain has you covered whether you want to drive it on road, off-road, on zombies, or in snow. It's a versatile and powerful heavy-duty car, but it's one of the rarest cars in the game, so you have to keep your eyes open for it.

With impressively high trunk storage and four seats available, it offers one of the highest storage capacities in the game. But it also has impressive engine power, so you can easily store tons of loot in it and drive away before getting swarmed by the undead.
3 Chevalier Dart And Masterson Horizon
The biggest drawback of any car in Project Zomboid is that they are loud. You will end up attracting zombies from a few blocks away, making driving and looting important locations more challenging and dangerous.
But Chevalier Dart and Masterson Horizon are both the quietest cars in the game. Their sound radius is even less than your shout, and they are decent in every other aspect as well. With medium capacity, four seats, and decent engine power, these are the safest cars you can drive in the game.
2 Chevalier Step Van
You've cleared the whole town from zombies, you survived the winter, but now you are running low on food and supplies. It might be time to move to another city and establish a new base, but you don't want to leave all your tools and weapons behind. This is where the Chevalier Step Van can become your savior.
This heavy-duty vehicle has the highest trunk capacity in the game. You can store tons of weapons, tools, and even furniture in this vehicle, and move them to your new location. They don't have a high speed, and they are very loud, so they won't make a good day-to-day car, but when it comes to moving, there is no better choice.
1 Franklin Valuline
If you find an ambulance in good condition and with the keys on it, you better take care of it because it is the best car you can find in the game. While there are four other variants of the Franklin Valuline, the ambulance has more than double the engine power of others.
As well as being a heavy-duty car with the second-highest storage capacity in the game, ambulances are one of the fastest cars you can obtain. To top it off, you can usually find tons of medical supplies and one or two duffel bags in the backs of these vehicles.
