Microplane Types of Graters (2024)

Every home cook needs a Microplane grater.

Microplane graters provide essential tools for cooking. We make different kinds: fine, coarse, ribbon, extra coarse, and zester. Each is good for something different. Extra coarse is good for bulky ingredients like carrots or cabbage while ribbon is great for things like cheddar cheese. A zester is used mostly for citrus peels but can also be used for hard cheeses such as parmesan or romano.

A hand grater is great when you need to grate a small amount of cheese or vegetables. A box grater is excellent for larger tasks like cauliflower rice or shredded zucchini. And zester is ideal for finely grated citrus peels and ginger as well as garlic without having to fuss with your knife skills (or clean up a sticky mess).
