Hula Pie is made with our favorite macadamia nut ice cream stacked high on a scrumptious chocolate cookie crust. A layer of cool chocolate fudge sits atop the ice cream giving form to this delight. Whipped cream dances at its base before decadent, hot chocolate fudge is poured over the top and drizzles to each side.

This dessert was developed at Kimo's long ago and has been pleasing even the heartiest of dessert eaters ever since. Hula Pie is made with Kimo's favorite macadamia nut ice cream piled high on a chocolate cookie crust and topped with chocolate fudge, whipped cream, and more macadamia nuts.

Mind you, he was not referring to the famous native dance, but to Hula Pie. Hula Pie is the signature dessert of an Hawaiian Restaurant chain and originated at the company's first restaurant, Kimo's in Old Lahaina Town in Maui.

While they both contain a crunchy crust, ice cream, and gooey sauce, the difference lies in the layer of ice cream. A mud pie is made so that the ice cream (or pudding as found in my Mississippi Mud Pie) looks like waves of Lahaina. A hula pie has a mound of ice cream stacked on the crust.
