How to Seamlessly Swap Your Fall to Winter Decor (2024)

When the seasons change, it’s time to give our homes a face-lift. My favorite transition is fall to winter decor because it’s super seamless and easy!

Instead of sticking with pumpkins, yellows and oranges, winter is all about stark whites, and in our case, neutrals with minimal pop of color. With Christmas and New Year’s as the main events of the season, I’m all about keeping the holiday spirit at the front and center of the home. And no, nothing too cheesy… just the right amount of cheese will do! Keep reading for all of my tips and tricks to seamlessly transition your decor from fall to winter.

Swap out Pillows and Linens

When it comes to your linens, you have so many fun options to change up. Whether it’s the pillows on your couch or the towels in your kitchen, going from fall to winter is easy! Sure, you can go for the obvious Christmas-themed ones with Santa prints, or, you can go with the more minimal, subdued approach (which I prefer).

I love the idea of incorporating whites, golds, neutrals, or even silvers. You can also switch out tea towels in the kitchen for something with more of a winter vibe. If you’re into neutral hues go for a stark white or warm tones, or, go for a deep red or green, like our Margaret Pillow. Honestly, the options are endless.

Add More Layers

If you’re in Southern California like me, seasons aren’t really a thing. So, whether you’re in CA or somewhere with actual snow, I recommend adding layers to your home in the transition from fall to winter.

Add more blankets around the house – draped over the couch, chair, foot of the bed… wherever you want! Opt for furry blankets or chunky knits like our Finn Throw to get into the winter and holiday spirit.

New Apothecary

Scents play a huge role in the home. Switch out the soaps and candles placed around your house for more winter-themed scents. I’m loving our Pine Candle!

New Table Centerpiece

As we all know, pumpkins are our go-to fall decoration but what about winter? In my opinion, winter is more fun to decorate because there are plenty of items to play around with; like a garland, pinecones, driftwood, snowflakes, ribbon, or something else, you have tons of options to choose from.

Store those pumpkins away for 2022 and try out a new centerpiece such as a bowl of pinecones, or some driftwood with candles. And you can’t forget the garland.

If you are looking for a statement piece for a beautiful tablescape, look no further than our Blitzen Candleholder! These will totally get the job done! They can be used in so many areas of your home. In addition to your table, they can be placed on your front door, mantle, or alongside your Christmas tree!

Dressing up the Mantle

While I was obsessed with the warm tones of my mantle decorations throughout fall, I’ve been even more excited to incorporate greenery on my mantle for the holidays. This year I added branches throughout for a more organic feel. Occasionally, I’ll throw in some color with either berries or ribbon, but this year I’m sticking to minimalism. Both faux or real garlands are okay, just make sure it seamlessly blends with your home’s style.
