What is in the Gardetto's snack mix? ›

Ingredients. Enriched Flour (wheat flour, niacin, iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), Vegetable Oil (soybean, high oleic soybean, canola and/or high oleic canola), Rye Flour, Salt, Sugar.

As you can see from the scientific study above, the best Gardetto's are the little brown discs, officially known as "rye chips" but called by various regional nicknames.

The crunch of the all-carb bag is mighty. The seasoning is addictive, a powerful explosion of salt, salt, garlic, and salt -- and apparently dried Worcestershire sauce, onion, baking soda, caraway, and a million chemical-sounding ingredients.

The Gardettos are also more dense, as you might expect. Having 2 different types of breadsticks in the mixture adds a little more “girth” to the overall bite. I would reach for the Gardettos if you want a snack that will fill you up a bit more. Meanwhile, the Chex Mix has a more yeasty flavor.

So unfortunately this brand is not suitable for vegans. Most Gardetto's products contain cheddar, Parmesan, and Romano cheeses, butter, milk, whey, and buttermilk. Other flavors, such as their Original Recipe and Garlic Rye Chips, also contain questionable ingredients, such as sugar, molasses, and caramel color.

The Gardettos are more like the oatmeal equivalent–substantial, more oomph. From a texture standpoint, the Chex Mix definitely feel lighter, so I could see it being easier to get carried away with this mixture as opposed to the Gardettos.
