In honor of us surviving the winter and it officially being summer, I would like to celebrate by introducing you to some amazing DIY summer glow recipes!
Body shimmer oils, sprays and lotions are excellent additions to any beauty routine, especially in the summer. They give your skin a radiant and glowing appearance that's perfect for beach days, pool parties, special occasions, date nights, or just everyday wear.
I will walk you through 3 ways you can make your own body glow solution at homewith ingredients you probably already own. Body glow oil is a great option if you like to shimmer and shine, sprays are good if you want more of a natural shine to your body without the extra grease and lotions are a great mix between the oil and spray finishing.
In a small bowl, mix together the distilled water and vegetable glycerin until fully combined
Add in the mica powder and stir well
Add in a few drops of essential oil if desired, and stir again
Pour the mixture into a spray bottle
Shake well before each use, and apply to your skin whenever you want a little extra shimmer
Body Shimmer Lotion:

Ingredients for 8 ounce body shimmer lotion
1 cup/8 ounces lotion of your choice
1 teaspoon mica powder (any color of your choice)
Instructions for body shimmer lotion:
Pour your lotion in an 8 ounce container if it is in a larger bottle
Add your mica powder to the lotion bottle and shake vigorously to combine
Shake well before each use, and apply to your skin whenever you want a little extra shimmer.
Tips for making body shimmer oil, spray and lotions at home:
Experiment with different shades of mica powder to find the perfect color for your skin tone
If you prefer a lighter shimmer, use less mica powder in your mixture
Store your body shimmer oil and spray in a cool, dark place to prolong their shelf life

Mica powders mix well with oil. They won't sink out over time. Since I mostly make products out of essential oils and carrier oils, mica powder is the easiest way to add natural color. It helps me make more consistent, evenly colored products that keep their color.
I've used it suspended in water-based clear sealers and shellac… I recall the shellac giving a much more lustrous metallic finish (I think we used amber)… it didn't hold well, though. Only mix as much as you need in the immediate future. Shellac is by far the best for suspending mica powder.
