If you ask us, Thanksgiving is one of the best holidays of the year. Not only is it a day dedicated to feasting on delicious turkey, sides, and desserts surrounded by loved ones, but it’s also a time for reflecting on all the things you’re thankful for. In case you’re still not convinced, here’s our list of 4 reasons Thanksgiving is a holiday we can’t live without.
Food
Turkey, and stuffing, and pie, oh my! It goes without saying that Thanksgiving dinner tops our list of annual favorites. From stuffing and mashed potatoes to apple and pumpkin pie, there are so many delicious options to choose from. However, no matter how many helpings of turkey we eat, we ALWAYS make sure to save room for dessert.
Family Time
Thanksgiving is the perfect opportunity to catch up with family you haven’t seen all year. Regardless of how big your family is or how many stops you plan to make during the day, there’s something special about sitting around a table with loved ones to share a meal and a few laughs. After all, who doesn’t get a kick out of listening to that one uncle who always has a new joke to tell, even if it means having to pretend it’s funny? (“A” for effort, at least!)
Traditions
Whether it’s having each person at the table say what they’re most thankful for, a competitive family football game in the yard, a post-dessert board game, or sitting around the TV to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Thanksgiving is full of family traditions that make it a hard holiday to beat. No matter how your family chooses to celebrate each year, it’s important to remember that these traditions are what make your family’s Thanksgiving celebrations unique!
Reasons We Celebrate
One of the most important reasons Thanksgiving tops our list of holiday favorites is the very reason we celebrate it! It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and forget to truly reflect on how grateful we are for everything that surrounds us. With the holiday season following right after, it’s also hard to put down the shopping lists and instead think about all the things we already have. Thanksgiving (and all the food, family, and traditions that come with it) gives us the opportunity to pause our lives for a day to reflect on everything we’re thankful for, surrounded by the people who matter most.
No matter how you celebrate it or who you celebrate it with, Thanksgiving is the ultimate holiday for giving thanks, making memories with loved ones, and (of course) eating incredible food.
